Happy first day of August everyone!

I would like to apologize in advance. I think that this month's update is going to be a very long one. That is to be expected though as we're finally starting a new mission. Please bear with me and I do hope everyone takes a couple of minutes to read it.

Month of July

As the majority of you have probably noticed, we had an extremely good month in regards to posts during the month of July. A total of eighteen were sent out. I think it might have been one of our best months ever. Good job everyone! Thank you for getting to your TAGs promptly. Let's keep it going into August as we embark on our new mission.

Players Leaving

Before I get into mission-related matters, I just want to bring up a couple of player-related things. First off, as we were already aware of, Doc (who plays Tara) is leaving us. I would like to thank Doc for the time he has dedicated to Endeavour and I wish him all the best.

What was not completely expected was the loss of another player. Due to inactivity and lack of communication, I was forced to remove Ryan (who plays Ensign Ashleigh Bridger) from Endeavour.

I just want to take this time to again, give you guys a friendly reminder that if you need to be away, or if you're having a hard time with writing right now, or whatever it is that's troubling you... please let either me or Karen know. It isn't difficult to request and be granted an LOA. I know that this is just a game, and it is meant to be fun, but it becomes troublesome when you're waiting for someone to reply to a post and they've gone MIA without a word. Please be courteous and communicate with us.. even if it's just to say.. "Something's happened IRL and I need to go on LOA for a couple of weeks." I would much rather some communication instead of none. I want everyone to be here, and to stay here as members of the sim and thus I want to work with you all to make sure that I don't lose you for whatever reason. I know this isn't the first time that I've gone on about this, but as you can tell, communication is a very important thing to me as a CO.

The Current Armory Situation

With Ryan being removed, we have a gap in our Chief Armory position. I will be starting a post either today or tomorrow that will address the situation. For this mission we will NOT have a Chief Armory Officer. I will be using this mission to see who I should promote into that position. So, Greg and Ewan, if you want it make sure to show it by doing posts and getting to your tags promptly. And also being nice and active! Those help too. In-game, the Captain will be the immediate go to person for Armory Officers. As a former Armory Officer himself, he is the most qualified person to temporarily take over as department head until a new Chief can be found.

The Mission - Even A God Bleeds

We finally completed this mission in July! It's about time! :D Here's a summary of some of the major events from the last month.

Intent on finding out the fate of the Sphere Builder on D Deck, Captain Pearson, 2nd Lieutenant Ishay and Ensign Bridger, along with a team of Armory Officers and MACOs converged on his location. When they arrived, they found that the Builder was in fact deceased. With that ordeal at an end, the Captain had Lieutenant Long restore the atmosphere to the remainder of the lower decks. Days later, the Captain met with several members of the senior staff. He had Lieutenant Long compile a set of instructions for the Xindi to follow so that they could repair the second Arboreal ship in orbit. Some extra tools and supplies were also loaded up onto the Xindi shuttlecraft docked with Endeavour. The next day, the Captain returned to the colony and delivered the supplies in the hope that maybe both cultures could move on from what happened in a positive light. Four days later, Endeavour received a new set of orders from Starfleet Command.

If there are any posts currently being worked on that need to be posted in the 'Even A God Bleeds' mission, please let me know.

Players who took part in this mission will be awarded a 'medal' for having done so. I will also be going through our achievements (particularly the posting ones) to see if there are any new ones to be awarded.

The Mission - The Eye Of Sin

So, today we are starting our new mission! Hooray! Before I share with you the synopsis of the mission there are a few things that you need to know. Firstly, this mission will be a character-heavy mission. At least that's what I'm hoping. Alot of people create their characters but don't put alot of thought into them. It is my hope that in this mission I'll be able to get some of you to really start thinking about who your characters are and the kinds of things that affect them. I'm not expecting novels or anything like that.. just a bit of extra thought into the lives of your characters. We'll see how things go and I'll adapt the mission as need be if things don't go according to plan. 'The Eye Of Sin' storyline officially begins on January 1, 2157 at 0000 Hours. Not everyone will be involved in the first post as it can get confusing when there's alot of people, but the post will take place while there's a bit of a party going on in the mess hall. Please use the time period of approximately two weeks between our last mission, and this one, to situate other posts in while we get things going. There's Christmas on a starship to post about! I also have another idea which I will be bringing up separately after I'm done this. I would recommend that people not go beyond January 1 at 0000 Hours for now until the first initial posts are out. Now on to the synopsis!

While en route for the Ophiucus System, Endeavour comes across a derelict probe of unknown origin. Curious about where it came from, Captain Pearson has the probe brought aboard the ship to be examined. When the casing to the probe is opened, the crew find the most beautiful-looking gem inside. Except that it isn’t wholly beautiful; for it can open the eyes of those who touch it to information they may not want to know.

So my thought process behind this is two-fold. Firstly I'm thinking about the Original Series and how the Enterprise sometimes ran into probes or ships that would just follow them and they couldn't get away! The probe will then lead to our second part which is actually based on a Marvel Comics storyline called 'Original Sin'. There will be more on that once we get to that part of the storyline.

Vulcan / Romulan Connections

This is just a friendly reminder to everyone that we're not supposed to know about any possible Vulcan / Romulan connections. It is canon that Starfleet never really found out until 'Balance Of Terror' when the Enterprise encountered the Romulans and they noticed the physical similarities. Whether people higher up in the chain of command might have known, it's quite possible.. but we're just every day officers not privy to that information. So please keep this in mind!

Okay. That's alot to read. I think I am going to stop there. To be quite honest, I don't really know if there's anything more for me to add at the moment. If you've read this, thank you for doing so. As always, if anyone has any questions about anything, please send me a PM or ask in the OOC. Other than that... get posting! I'm so glad that we're moving forward again.

J.P. / Captain Edward Pearson
